As a caring horse-owner, there is no way around it: you are your horse's main trainer. Sidekick. Caregiver.
No other person can form the bond with your horse the way you can so you are uniquely positioned to have the the greatest impact on their development.
BUT feel strongly that you need guidance.
Especially when this horse that you love so much, seems:
consistently off, maybe unsound?
somewhat unhappy
aggressive
uncomfortable or scary under saddle
ready for colt-starting
bored
uninterested in you
You just want to have a nice, comfortable, safe ride on your beautiful friend, but you aren't sure who needs the most help...your horse or you...!
Well, we got your back!
We can help point you in the right direction to troubleshoot so we can get you and your horse on the path to fulfill your riding or partnership goals. Here are the Longmont-based programs through which your horse and you can learn to become the best versions of yourselves...together!
These 90mins, theme-specific classes are meant to support your and your horse's co-creational growth alongside a small group of horse-human pairs who are just as committed to mutual empowerment!
The themes are:
•Riding Prep/Rehab
•Consensual Riding
•Safety and Problem Solving
These group classes are focused first and foremost on developing a balanced, relaxed, thoughtful, and effective rider. We delve in to body awareness and conditioning for the rider so you can be the best possible dance partner for your horse!
We, of course, still focus on supporting and developing the skills of the horse when needed!
•Artful Riding
•Artful Dressage
•Sunday Funday
•Offsite Trailrides
Maybe you need hands-on support to gentle your wild mustang, or to teach your horse to load on the trailer so that you can come to our weekly classes. Or anything else that you don't feel possible in a group setting, yet.
We do occasionally offer 1:1 support at Wildsong Ranch, online, or even at your location.

IN OUR STUDENT MAGDALENE'S WORDS...
Consensual riding is so much fun! MY HORSE has so much fun that I can hardly believe it!
He now collects (proudly), engages in shoulder-in and pirouettes without me asking!
I quickly learned what "being present" means. Also, I started to feel so much more in my seat! And so much quicker!

Frequently asked questions
We welcome experienced equestrians and complete beginners, horse owners or humans who haven’t yet found their forever horse, from children (starting age 9) to adults in their golden years.
DO YOU RIDE WESTERN OR ENGLISH?
YES! We ride in all saddles! The type of saddle is not as important to us as the comfort the horse and human have in it. We have jumped in Western saddles, and herded cows in English saddles! Sometimes our most preferred saddle is NO saddle! As for discipline specializations...we are very well studied in dressage, jumping, and trail. But at the end of the day we hope to develop riders who can sit in anything because they learn how to feel and communicate with the horse they're on.
We promise, pinky swear and vow to only teach your horse how to rear if you actively request it and sign it on paper. Some folks think that rearing is an awesome trick, and since it's great for most horses' body, we will gladly facilitate it. But it's not NECESSARY, and we go with your definition of safety and happiness with your horse, when training them!
Talk to us, send us an email, come to a Sneak Peek and let us know what you need. If there are skills we think you can learn at Wildsong Ranch with one of our horses, we will pair you up with them and you can take what you learned back to your horse. You can also tell us why you need us to come help at your ranch instead, and we promise we will listen and consider! Also, before any of this, please make sure the owners and trainers in residence at your ranch are fine with other trainers coming over!
This just isn't something we do. We feel strongly that our horses need to build a relationship with people before we ask them to carry us. Further more, we have ways of getting consent from the horses so they have some control over their lives and bodies. The cool thing is that when horses get to know people through the systems we have in place, they often LOVE to carry their friends and have a great time doing it. It is a feeling unlike any other when a horse willingly invites you on their back and you get to be a consensual dance partner with them! If this sounds amazing to you, then you are super cool and we'd love to guide you on the path to get there!
Okay...we have a confession to make we ARE NOT your typical riding program...and we think this is a very good thing! We love to ride and we can't wait for our horses to offer that opportunity to you, BUT...
We love the happiness and well-being of our horses more than just riding.
...we won't settle for anything less than CONSENSUAL riding. Ideally, Co-Creational riding.
Riding is a very intimate activity for horses. It won't be a pleasant experience to them unless we have learned how to honor them at every step of the way.
That takes some knowledge, skills and relationship building with horses...and that takes time and commitment. The good news is that, from our perspective, this approach is ultimately
much safer for humans and horses.
We will gladly guide you from wherever you are into being the most safe, trustworthy, clear and fun sidekick to any future horse.
We will gladly guide you from wherever you are into being the most safe, trustworthy, clear and fun sidekick to any future horse.
So, you'll likely not be riding for a while within our program, BUT...when you do ride...you AND your horse are going to feel on top of the world...TOGETHER. It's the best feeling in the world, and if that's the feeling you're looking for...well...welcome home 🤗
Our entry point is Orientation followed by Horsemanship classes. These are for adults, teens and children (age 9 and up) who dream of a movie-like, mutually empowering relationship with horses, whatever their starting point, this is the place for you to start and grow!
